The Keith Boone-Anderson Ranch Award
Denison University's Studio Art Program announces a new student award in honor of recently retired Associate Provost, Dr. Keith Boone.
The Keith Boone, Anderson Ranch award is named in honor of Dr. Keith Boone for the years of leadership, mentoring and support he has bestowed upon the Studio Art Program at Denison University. Dr. Boone has contributed so much to the program through his wise council, his constant engagement with Studio Art's activities and his investment in the program's success. The Studio Art faculty, students and staff have benefitted greatly, in numerous ways, from Keith Boone's commitment to the arts at Denison. This award has been created with gifts from people committed to the studio art program and its students, including staff, faculty and current and former students, as an expression of our gratitude for the transformative effect Keith Boone has had on our lives and this program. This award will allow an outstanding rising sophomore, junior or senior Denison Studio Art major the opportunity to attend a summer art workshop at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Colorado.
"Anderson Ranch strives to be a world leader in the growth and development of the visual arts, in the international dialogue that inspires common humanity through art making, and in the creation of a campus imbued with a spirit of community, challenge, support, exploration, innovation and discovery."
Anderson Ranch vision statement
The award is granted to one student a year based on her/his exceptional dedication and commitment to her studio practice and demonstrated leadership within the Denison arts community. The recipient must exhibit a genuine investment not only in her own success, but also in the success of her peers and her community at large.
This year's recipient is Becca Lynn, '11.
As well as continually seeking challenges in her studio practice, Becca continually offers support and commitment to her peers and her community. She has been actively engaged in the DU Art Collective's community based projects, such as the Empty Bowls fundraiser and workshops with children from Licking County Schools. Becca recently co-organized, designed and executed several murals for the Licking County Family Services family meeting rooms.
