ARTS 165-01: Studio Art Foundation

General Objectives:

Directed at both non-art majors and majors, Studio Art Foundation(SAF) is a basic introduction to artistic practice in contemporary culture. Through an interdisciplinary approach and a technical understanding of multiple mediums, Professors Micaela Vivero and Alexander Mouton will teach both sections of this course collaboratively. Section 1 will use photography as a central focus and Section 2 will use sculpture. SAF will cross borders between two dimensional, three dimensional and time based disciplines. Course work will include drawing, screen-printing, found objects, mold making, papermaking, puppetry and performance art. In conjunction with the campus wide McGregor series of event, the theme of man's relationship to animals will be used as a point of departure to emphasize the critical nature of art making with other areas of study, theory and research.

 No Prerequisite.

Note: This course will fulfill the Artistic Inquiry (P) requirement for seniors
