Arts 265-02: Print and Film

This interdisciplinary studio art course will examine the influence of graphic arts on the developement of cinematic vision, and vice versa. Through drawing and print medium of photo screen printing, students will create individual artworks in response to film screenings, graphic novels and essays on film and art. Other areas of research and artistic practice in this course will include studies in appropriation (visual quoting), visual storytelling through storyboards and the role graphic design plays in movie production. Some of the films to be studied as springboards for artistic creation include the work of Alfred Hitchcock, Peter Greenaway and David Lynch.
