Vail Visiting Artists 2010-2011
The Art Department is fortunate to have visiting artists throughout the year funded through the Vail Visiting Artist Fund. The artists for 2010-2011 included:
Pam Lins and Halsey Rodman
Artists Pam Lins and Halsey Rodman were in residence at Denison the week of December 2nd, 2010.
Halsey Rodman gave an artist talk at Higley Hall Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2nd. Pam Lins spoke about her work at on Friday, Dec. 3rd at the Cinema House. Both talks were free and open to the public.

Kat Marie Moya
Artist In residence, Kat Marie Moya who's studios are based in Columbus, OH and Berlin Germany, spent April 11 - 15th, 2011 working with Ron Abram's printmaking students and in individual critiques with the senior and junior studio art majors. She presented her work in a public lecture on April 12th in the Bryant Arts Center.
Paddy Johnson
Curator, artist, writer, Paddy Johnson was in residence at Denison Febraury 14 - 18. She gave a gallery talk in the exhibition she curated (see below) and met with the Studio Art students in individual critiques.
“Graphic Interchange Format” was both the title and the substance of a new art exhibition at Denison. The exhibition began with a gallery walk with curator Paddy Johnson, on Friday, Feb. 18, in the Mulberry Gallery.The exhibition ran through Friday, March 25.
This exhibition surveyed a small subsection of fine art workers within this growing subulture of image-makers. Focusing on work that engages both the language of the Internet and fine art, this exhibition aimed to articulate the value of the GIF in the context of the gallery. Participating artists included Duncan Alexander, Kevin Bewersdorf, Saul Chernick, Petra Cortright, Stephanie Davidson, dump.fm, MTAA (Tim Widden and Michael Sarff), Lorna Mills, Tom Moody, Marcin Ramocki, Ryder Ripps and Spirit Surfers.
The event was sponsored by the Studio Art Program, the Vail Visiting Artist fund and the Spectrum Series at Denison.

Denison hosted a panel Discussion, "Artists and the City," on April 18, 2011 in Higley Auditorium included Columbus OH Artists Kat Marie Moya, Lisa McLymont and Adam Broulette.
The three artists presented their artwork in 20 minute individual lectures and then discussed as a group the ways they navigate the city of Columbus as working artists, the culture of artistic support in the city and the intersections between artists and issues of urban identity and development. Associate Professor of Studio Art, Ron Abram, acted as panel moderator.
