Art History Minor Requirements

Required Courses

A minimum of six courses (five in Art History and one in Studio Art) as outlined below:

• One required Art History Course:

  _____ Art 151: Introduction to Art History

• Choose at least two from the following areas; (the two must be from different areas):

  Ancient to Baroque                                   _____ Art _____

  Eighteenth to Twentieth Century            _____ Art _____

  Africa, South Pacific and the Americas  _____ Art _____

• Two elective Art History Courses:

• One elective Studio Art Course (choose 1 of the following):

  _____ Art 110/170

  _____ Art 121/171

  _____ Art 141/172

A limit of two courses towards the minor may be taken outside the department. This includes off-campus programs. Students must get courses approved before they go off-campus by the Chair of the department. Students are also required to bring a portfolio of the work done in these classes back to the department for evaluation before credit is granted toward the minor.
