Annelise Thompson '13 receives Fulbright research grant to Germany
Annelise has received a Fulbright research grant to Germany for 2013-2014. She will study a new class of antibiotics, known as thiopeptides, under the direction of Dr. Hans-Dieter Arndt, Professor of Organic and Bioorganic Chemistry at the University of Jena, Germany. After her year in Germany, she will be attending Caltech in Pasadena, CA for graduate work in chemistry
Annelise's thoughts on the project/research:
While this project belongs primarily in the field of chemistry, it connects a number of disciplines. Dr. Arndt’s extensive research experience in Germany, the UK, and the USA, the interdisciplinary character of his research, as well as his interest in the development of these new antibiotics, exemplify the kind of scientist I aspire to be and the kind of research I hope to pursue in my own career.
