My interest in chemistry has been demonstrated many times in many locations -- using chemical demonstrations! With the support of Denison University I have recently published a two volume collection, "Tested Demonstrations in Chemistry and Selected Demonstrations from the Journal of Chemical Education" which I prepared with the generous assistance of students. I am currently editor of the Tested Demonstrations feature of the Journal of Chemical Education. Another interest I have explored and developed relates to teaching strategies, especially in the areas of self-paced learning and tactics of problem solving. I arrived at Denison in 1964 with a B.S. from Antioch College (1958), a Ph.D. from Michigan State University (1963) and postdoctoral research at The University of California, Berkeley. My research interests include the synthesis of transition metal coordination compounds and compounds containing noble gas elements.
