Facilities and Equipment
Students enrolled in Denison production classes shoot in both 16mm film and digital video formats and use both flatbed systems and Final Cut Pro to edit their projects. The Cinema Department is located in the newly renovated Cinema House at 201 N. Mulberry Street. Here you will find faculty and staff offices, a student lounge, a state-of-the-art screening room, production equipment, a Steenbeck flatbed editing room, and five MacPro media stations (additional MacPro media stations are located in the Mulberry Inter-media eXperimental (MIX) lab [pdf]).
Students enrolled in CINE 219: Elementary Cinema Production work in HDV format and edit using Final Cut Pro.
In CINE 310: Intermediate Cinema Production, students work with 16mm black & white reversal film and edit with Steenbeck flatbed editing machines.
In CINE 410: Advanced Cinema Production, students work with 16mm color negative film which is digitized and then edited on Final Cut Pro.
In CINE 419 Cinema Workshop, students are given creative freedom to complete a narrative, documentary, or experimental short of their choosing. They are able to use the full range of the department's equipment, and their films are showcased annually in the Denison Film Festival.
