Loca Antiqua

The Department of Classics offered a travel seminar for students, immediately following the Spring semester, from 1993-2003. Usually two-three weeks in duration, the program consisted of an intensive course of academic study on-site in various locations throughout the Mediterranean and European continent, for which students received two academic credits. In late May 2003, Loca Antiqua visited sites in Italy, concentrating on Rome, but including travels from Pompeii in the south to Ravenna in the north via Florence.

The success of Loca Antiqua has encouraged the Department to consider its continuation, but as a possible component of the Denison Summer Scholars program. While Loca Antiqua is under review, we encourage students to consider Denison's fine program of International and Off-Campus Study.
