Erin Copple Smith is a doctoral candidate in Media & Cultural Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and is thrilled to be back on campus teaching at Denison.  Her teaching and research interests include media conglomerates and the intersection of ownership and content, advertising and promotional strategies, and conglomerate-based overlaps among the broadcasting, film and music industries.  Her dissertation project investigates the current state of synergistic practices within media conglomerates, with a particular emphasis on cross-promotional strategies.  The ultimate goal of the project is to discover the realities of daily life and work within media conglomerates in order to achieve a better understanding of the individuals who comprise the media industries.
