THEORY: 16 credits
(4 credits per course)

Each of these:
  • Dance 284: Dance Improvisation and Composition
  • Dance 374: Experiential Anatomy and Kinesiology
  • Dance 384: Introduction to Movement Analysis
And one of these:
  • Dance 274: Cultural Studies in Dance History OR
  • Dance 322: Dance and Ethnicity (when offered) OR
  • WMST 302: Women and the Arts

INTEGRATING EXPERIENCES: 10 credits

  • Seminar in Production 110: 2 credits
  • Seminar in Critical Research 352 OR Seminar in Choreographic Research 354: 2 credits
  • Senior Project in Critical Research or Choreography 451: 4 credits
  • Repertory 420/430/440: totaling 4 credits
(Repertory credit is awarded one credit per 50 rehearsal hours typically one credit per work performed for works created by faculty or guest artists.)

Requirements for the minor in dance

24 credits minimum

8 in one area AND 4 in any combination of the other two areas.

All minors must take level III in their chosen focus area if the focus is Contemporary dance or Ballet or an equivalent program of study in World Dance forms as approved by the department. Repertory courses are not required for the minor.
