If you are interning with an institution other than a school, adapt the following questions to best reflect the institution.

Briefly describe the educational philosophy that dominated the thinking at the time the school was built and which might be revealed in its architecture.
Is the school still operating under the philosophy or some modification of it?   
Does the school now have a written philosophy?   
What are the geographical boundaries of the school?
How do most students get to school? i.e walk/drive   
How is the school organized?
List the non-teaching, non-certified staff members employed in the school (such as custodian, cook, secretaries, etc.). Briefly describe the responsibilities of each and their scheduled work hours per day.
List the non-teaching, certified faculty members employed in the school (such as librarian, nurse, counselor, etc.). Briefly describe the responsibilities of each and the average number of hours per day that each works.
How many full-time faculty members are there?     Part-time?   
What is the proportion of men to women?   
Are either men or women concentrated in one or a few grade levels or subject areas?

Try to determine some of the social, economic, and cultural characteristics of the school population. Are there minority groups represented in the school population?

What extracurricular activites exist for students?
What % of the students take an active part?   
How do students dress?    
What appears to you to be the three major interests of the students?
