Charles Wyatt is the author of two collections of short fiction, Listening to Mozart, and Swan of Tuonela, a novella, Falling Stones, the Spirit Autobiography of S.M. Jones, and a poetry chapbook, A Girl Sleeping, poems after drawings and etchings of Rembrandt van Rijn. His stories and poems have appeared widely in literary journals.
He came to writing and teaching after spending more than 20 years as principal flutist of the Nashville Symphony. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from The Curtis Institute of Music, a Master of Music from the Philadelphia Musical Academy, and a Master of Fine Arts in Fiction Writing from Warren Wilson College.
He has served as visiting
fiction writer at Binghamton University, The University of Central
Oklahoma, Purdue University, Oberlin College, and Denison University.
At Denison, he teaches courses in creative writing, fiction writing,
the short story, and the contemporary American novel. He also serves
on the faculties of the University of Nebraska MFA in Writing and the
UCLA Extension Writing Program.
