Each year at Denison's Commencement ceremony, hudnreds of graudationg students don green ribbons signifying that they signed the Graudation Pledge of Social and Environmental Responsibilty.  Over 100 colleges and universities offer this pledge, which emphasizes environmental responsibility after students graduate.  On Denison's campus, both the Environmental Studies Senior Fellows and the Office of Sustainability coordinate the program.

The pledge states, "I pledge to explor and take into account the social and environmental consequences of any job I consider and will try to improve these aspects of any organization for which I work."
