Alrutz Internship

The internship funds one Denison student to spend 10 weeks during the summer at the Rodale Institute (Kutztown, PA), a not-for-profit organization that specializes in organic agriculture.

DOE Scholars Program

This program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and administered by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education and is recruiting students for the summer internship program. The DOE Scholars Program provides students and recent graduates with experiences and training that will prepare and motivate them to pursue careers with DOE. The summer 2007 program includes ten-week appointments at DOE offices, laboratories, or facilities; weekly stipend payments; round-trip travel from home or institution to the appointment site; and opportunities to apply academic studies to DOE programs in science, engineering, safety, finance, project and program management, policy, planning, and other professional areas.


The Student Conservation Association* (SCA)

Each year, SCA members help to protect vital habitats, threatened wildlife, and other at-risk resources in our nation?s parks, forests and urban green spaces. This unique experience instills an ethic of conservation and inspires lifelong stewardship that benefits our members, our society and our environment.


State Public Interest Research Groups (PIRGs):

The state Public Interest Research Groups are a network of independent, state-based, citizen-funded organizations that advocate for the public interest. Since 1970, we have been delivering results-oriented citizen activism to protect our environment, encourage a fair and sustainable economy, and foster a responsive democratic government. We uncover threats to public health and well-being and fight to end them, using the time-tested tools of investigative research, media exposes, grassroots organizing, advocacy and litigation


Peace Corps:

The Peace Corps has served 138 countries by responding to the countries' requests for development assistance. Volunteers interested in nature and the outdoors can serve in the areas of agriculture, environmental education, and forestry work in order to help communities secure a healthy, productive future while protecting its natural resources.


BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT

Common Locations: AK, AZ, CA, MT, NV, OR, WY, NM

Duration: 3 months (summer) to 2 years

Setting: Outdoor

Project Type: Natural resource management, engineering, mapping

Eligibility: College or graduate degree (or working towards); within 3 years of last enrollment; relevant subject area. US citizen or work authorization.



Green Corps:

Green Corp is a year-long, full-time paid Environmental Leadership Training Program that provides instruction and experience in environmental and social change fields. The year includes intensive classroom training, hands-on experience running urgent environmental and public health campaigns, and career placement in permanent positions with leading environmental groups.
