Volunteer Abroad
This program provides different opportunities to volunteer in Costa Rica, Ecuador, Ghana, Nepal, Nicaragua, and Peru. Programs include a focus on teaching, building, conservation, social programs, health and medicine, and custom groups.
This program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and administered by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education and is recruiting students for the summer internship program. The DOE Scholars Program provides students and recent graduates with experiences and training that will prepare and motivate them to pursue careers with DOE. The summer 2007 program includes ten-week appointments at DOE offices, laboratories, or facilities; weekly stipend payments; round-trip travel from home or institution to the appointment site; and opportunities to apply academic studies to DOE programs in science, engineering, safety, finance, project and program management, policy, planning, and other professional areas.
The Student Conservation Association* (SCA)
Each year, SCA members help to protect vital habitats, threatened wildlife, and other at-risk resources in our nation?s parks, forests and urban green spaces. This unique experience instills an ethic of conservation and inspires lifelong stewardship that benefits our members, our society and our environment.
Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center:
Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center (CVEEC) is an award winning environmental learning facility located in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. CVEEC offers innovative school programs, summer camps, teacher workshops, conference facilities, and family events throughout the year. By participating in their internship.
State Public Interest Research Groups (PIRGs):
The state Public Interest Research Groups are a network of independent, state-based, citizen-funded organizations that advocate for the public interest. Since 1970, we have been delivering results-oriented citizen activism to protect our environment, encourage a fair and sustainable economy, and foster a responsive democratic government. We uncover threats to public health and well-being and fight to end them, using the time-tested tools of investigative research, media exposes, grassroots organizing, advocacy and litigation
The Peace Corps has served 138 countries by responding to the countries? requests for help in empowering people to take charge of their own future. Volunteers work in collaboration with community members in order to strengthen the bond of friendship and understanding between Americans and people of other countries. Volunteers interested in nature and the outdoors can serve in the areas of agriculture, environmental education, and forestry work in order to help communities secure a healthy, productive future while protecting its natural resources.

This program, in collaboration with the Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, and USDA Forest Service, offers a five-month paid internship at $750/pay period. College graduates will be involved in conservation biology and natural resource management starting from January and June 2007.
Green Corp is a year-long, full-time paid Environmental Leadership Training
Program that provides instruction and experience in environmental and social
change fields. The year includes intensive classroom training, hands-on
experience running urgent environmental and public health campaigns, and career
placement in permanent
positions with leading environmental groups.
