Sustainability in the Great Lakes Colleges Association
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS: Campus Sustainability Projects
Background and Objectives
The College of Wooster, Denison University and Kenyon College have collaborated on an initiative to investigate ways to combine curricular and non-curricular activities which enhance attention to sustainability issues on campus. In order to more effectively explore how faculty expertise in sustainability-related areas can be leveraged to achieve institutional impact, the three colleges sought support from the Academic Leadership and Innovation (GALI) Institute which funds professional development opportunities for faculty of Great Lakes College Association (GLCA) member colleges. Grant funding secured from the GALI Institute will support a sustainability conference to be held Spring Semester 2010 on Denison’s campus as well as a small grants program to fund sustainability projects.
This funding opportunity seeks innovative project proposals that involve faculty, staff and students in addressing environmental sustainability, through relevant faculty research, investigations of campus issues or implementation of new programs on campus. Funds may be used to pay student assistants, fund travel, or purchase supplies associated with the projects. Intercampus collaboration and/or consultation on these projects is encouraged.
Proposals for projects will be reviewed by the project implementation team made up of representatives of each college.
Eligibility
Projects with faculty sponsorship from any department from any of the three participating colleges are eligible for funding. Staff, students and student groups are encouraged to apply but must include a faculty sponsor in order to be eligible.
Funding range
Proposals are invited in the $100 - $1,000 range.
