Abstract

One of the latest points of contention within the earth science community has been the theory that the earth was once completely covered by a thick sheet of ice. This paper describes the synthesis of many subjects that gave birth to the "Snowball Earth" theory. The debate is far from over, but this paper strives to give understanding why this theory is so controversial, and why is it so important to the scientific community.
