Faculty and students enjoyed the Spring 2002 Departmental Field Trip to Costa Rica.
The itinerary included:
- Poas Volcano andthe Central Highlands
- Irazu Volcano with Crater Lake
- La Selva Biological Station - lowland rain forest
- Arenal Volcano (currently erupting) and hot springs
- Bara Honda National Park - Karst topography
- Southern Tip of the Nicoya Peninsula - marine terraces, tectonics, deep sea rocks
- Cura National Wildlife Refuge
- Monteverde and Santa Elena Cloud Forests
