Guadalupe Mountains

The Spring Departmental Field Trip focused on the fantastic geology exposed in westernmost Texas and southern New Mexico. The itinerary included some or all of the following: the Permian Reef Complex exposed in Guadeloupe National Park, metamorphic rocks and structures exposed in the Guadeloupe Mountains, three types of volcanoes in the Portrillo volcanic field, sand dunes and evaporite deposits in White Sands National Momument, and a Cretaceous reef complex.
