HNRS 122-01: Performance/Action Art

This honors studio art course will be an exploration about storytelling with the language of artistic actions and gestures. The theme for this exploration will be the Narratives of Space or quoting Michel de Certeau’s Spatial Stories with the example of the actual history of Violence in Colombia. de Certeau says: “Every story is a travel story --a spatial practice.” Students will be researching their theme (Spatial Story) and be exposed to a wide range of artistic performances. We will be working on the approach to art practices from the production of meaning and the relationship between art and life. This class will collaborate and share resources with the Honors class Colombia: Narratives of Violence taught by Professor Eduardo Jaramillo.
