Kent Maynard, Director of the Honors Program

 

 

As an anthropologist, Kent has lived and done research in Ecuador and Cameroon, and has written about religion and indigenous medicine, among other topics. He is also a published poet who has participated for many years in the Denison Wednesday Night Writers Group that meets in the Gilpatrick Honors Center. Kent also likes to garden, cook, and play with his nine-year old daughter.

Joan Krone, Director of Fellowships

Throughout her career as a computer scientist Joan has worked toward mathematical proofs of program correctness.Her work includes collaboration with logicians, software engineers, and mathematicians, as well as computer scientists.She has published several journal articles and co-authored a book on discrete math for computer science.She enjoys animals of all kinds, including her three Newfoundlands and two cats.She and her husband share a love for nature, expressed through tree planting for conservation of natural resources.

Cookie Sunkle, Assistant to the Director of the Honors Program

Cookie Sunkle is the Assistant to the Director of the Honors Program and can be found most days at her computer in the Honors Program office in Gilpatrick House. With the program since 1988, Cookie also oversees the mentor program for first-year Honors students and assists with the processing of post-Denison fellowship applications. She and her husband, Tom, enjoy traveling in their spare time, and Cookie also serves as an advisor for one of Denison's sororities.

Joanna Kreiselman is a junior from Columbus, OH, studying mathematics and Spanish.  In addition to leading the Honors Social Committee, Joanna is the Shabbat and Passover Seder coordinator for Hillel, a club soccer player, and a runner.  Joanna has served on both the June Orientation and August Orientation student staffs, and has conducted summer research in mathematics and computer science.  She is thrilled to be the Gilpatrick Fellow for a second year, and is happy to answer any questions about the Honors Program.
