Barry G. Goldwater Scholarship
The Goldwater Scholarships are intended for students considering a career in science or mathematics. It is NOT for medical school. A total of four students from the sophomore and junior classes may be nominated. This is very selective and only students with a 3.7 or above are encouraged to apply. Morris K. Udall Scholarship
Morris K. Udall Scholarships are for sophomores or juniors interested in a career in environmental public policy. Students need at least a B average. Sophomore or Junior/US Citizen/US National/permanent resident. Campus deadline: November 7, 2008. www.udall.gov

NIH Undergraduate Scholarship Program
The National Institute of Health (NIH) offers an innovative program to support the career development of the next generation of biomedical health researchers. The service-connected scholarship program, the Undergraduate Scholarship Program for Individuals from Disadvantaged Backgrounds (UGSP), targets students who are committed to pursuing careers in biomedical, behavioral, and social science health-related fields. The program offers up to $20,000 annually in scholarship support, paid research training at the NIH during the summer and after graduation, and intensive mentoring, research experience, career guidance, and skill development

GRO Undergraduate Fellowships
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is offering Greater Research Opportunities Undergraduate Fellowships for bachelor level students in environmentally related fields of study for FY2008. http://es.epa.gov/ncer/rfa/2008/2008_gro_undergrad.html
Eligible students will receive support for their junior and senior years of undergraduate study and for an internship at an EPA facility during the summer between their junior and senior years. The fellowship provides up to $17,000 per year of academic support and up to $7,500 of internship support for the three-month summer period.
DAAD Study & Internship Program (SIP): Scholarships for a Year of Study and Internship in Germany

All applicants selected for the program will receive a monthly scholarship for the duration of the study semester, and a stipend for the duration of the internship semester.
To be considered for the SIP program, students have to be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited US or Canadian college or university. Applications are invited from Sophomores or Juniors in one of these fields: engineering, science, life sciences; business, management, economics; architecture, art, design; journalism, social work.

Amgen Scholars Program
The Amgem Scholars Program provides undergraduate students with the opportunity to engage in hands-on summer research at ten of the leading US research institutions – Cal Tech, Columbia/Barnard, Howard, MIT, Stanford, UC-Berkeley, UCLA, UC-San Diego, UC-San Francisco, and the University of Washington. Research opportunities are available in the following fields: biochemistry, bioengineering, bioinformatics, biopsychology, biotechnology, chemical and biomolecular engineering, chemistry, immunology, medical pharmacology, microbiology, molecular genetics, molecular medicine, molecular pharmacology, molecular/cell/developmental biology, neurobiology, neuroscience, pathology, physiological psychology, physiological science, statistics, and toxicology. Students must be US citizens or permanent residents, have completed the sophomore or junior year (or be non-graduating seniors), and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2, with an interest in pursuing a PhD or MD-PhD program. DAAD/RISE - Research Internships in Science and Engineering in Germany
RISE gives students in the fields of biology, chemistry, earth sciences, engineering and physics the chance to spend a summer working with German doctoral students on serious research projects. The doctoral students help integrate the undergraduate directly into the lab work and serve as personal and professional mentors. All participants receive stipends from DAAD to help cover living expenses, and the partner universities and research institutions provide housing assistance.
* The RISE internship database contains 484 research internships, including 169 Engineering Projects, 118 Chemistry projects, 98 Biology projects, 78 Physics projects, and 21 Earth Science projects.
* They are offering a new monthly stipend rate of 650 Euros/month.
* All scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to attend an all-expenses paid meeting of 2008 RISE participants in Heidelberg, Germany from July 3-6, 2008.
* All program participants receive a 5-day German rail pass to attend the student meeting in Heidelberg and for 3 days of personal travel.
* RISE will be offering 30 scholarships for students with no previous
German language background to attend a 2-week intensive language course prior to the start of the program.

2008 Junior Summer Abroad Research Program in Europe
Come and experience one of the best research experiences of your life! During this 8-week study abroad program, you will be exposed to international research, education and culture. In addition, you will be working in an experienced, collaborative research team to develop and apply algorithms and software for simulating reactions with organic materials that involve transitions between electronic states. Applicants should have at least two years of undergraduate study, preferably majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, physics, or computer science; or a related discipline such as chemical engineering or materials science, with an interest in chemistry. If you have an enthusiasm for learning new science, we will help you to become familiar with this exciting area of complex systems research that is becoming more important in the global environment.

Critical Language Scholarships
The Department of State Critical Language Scholarships will provide funding for U.S. citizen undergraduate, Master’s and Ph.D. students to participate in beginning, intermediate and/or advanced level summer language programs in Arabic, Bangla/Bengali, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Turkish, and Urdu at American Overseas Research Centers and affiliated partners in Summer 2008.
Recipients of these scholarships will be expected to continue their language study beyond the scholarship period and later apply their critical language skills in their professional careers.
