Joanna Grabski joined the Art Department faculty in 2000.  Her research focuses on modern and contemporary art in Africa, especially Senegal and Congo where she has worked with artists, collectors, and critics.  She has authored numerous articles on visual expression in Dakar, Senegal and Brazzaville, Congo, and is currently working on a book about beaux arts practices and urban life in Dakar.
