The Denison Department of Music is presenting a weekend of concerts and workshops featuring award winning Nashville vocalist Kathy Chiavola, Grammy winning guitarist David Grier and champion fiddler Andy Carlson. The Kathy Chiavola Band (Nashville, TN), David Grier (solo guitar) and The Andy Carlson Band (Atlanta, GA) will share the Burke Recital Hall stage for 2 shows-Saturday Feb. 5, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday Feb. 6 at 3:00 p.m. Band members from each group will also be offering free workshops to area musicians on Saturday Feb. 5 beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the Burke Rehearsal Room. On Sunday, prior to the performance, Andy Carlson is teaching intermediate and advanced fiddling classes to students from the Denison Suzuki Program and the Capital University Suzuki Program.
Kathy Chiavola will be joined by guitarist David Grier, Richard Bailey on Banjo, Todd Cook on Bass and Andy Carlson on fiddle. The Andy Carlson Band members are Casey Cook on guitar, Greg Earnest on Banjo, Keith Morris on Bass, and Michael Smith on Mandolin. CarlsonÕs band will be celebrating the release of their new CD "Log-a-rhythm."
CDs will be available for sale throughout the weekend. All events are free and open to the public
