Auditions

2008 Fall Semester Audition Times


Orchestra/Denison Wind Ensemble:

Seating auditions for all students: Thursday, September 4 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. in Burke Recital Hall.

Strings: one 3-octave scale, a short solo and some sight-reading.

Winds/Brass/Percussion: A short solo and some sight-reading.

Please report to Burke Rehearsal Room at 4:30 and be ready for your audition.

The Jazz Ensemble:

Wednesday, September 3 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. in Burke Rehearsal Room.

Please report to Burke Rehearsal Room and be ready for your audition at 4:30 p.m.

Singers Theater Workshop:

Monday, September 1 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. in Burke Recital Hall.

Please report to Burke Recital Hall and be ready for your audition at 4:30 p.m.

Choral Ensembles

Auditions will be held on Saturday, August 30 from 3:00-5:30 p.m., Sunday, August 31 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  and on Monday, September 1 from 1:00-4:00 p.m.  Please contact Dr. Cheng at chengw@denison.edu to schedule an audition time.  If you cannot make one of these time slots, please make an appointment by contacting Dr. Cheng.

All auditions will take place in Burton 103
No prepared solos are required, just come as you are.

We also offer a variety of ensembles that do not require an audition, which include:

Most freshmen enroll for private lessons and ensembles during June Orientation, however, you can enroll as late as the second week of the term.

The theory placement exam will be given on Sunday, August 31 at 12:30-1:45 pm in Burton Room 14 (basement). This exam is for anyone who would like to test out of Theory I (MUS 104). It will consist of a written and aural portion.
