Dido and Aeneas

Show Dates |
April 26, 2003 |
Synopsis |
After the death of her husband, Dido assumes the mantle of ruling Queen of Carthage. Dido swears eternal fidelity to her dead husband, but the gods have other plans.
The goddess Venus sends her messenger, Cupid, to shoot the Queen with Love's dart. Cupid's second dart pierces the heart of the Trojan warrior Aeneas, and he and has men approach the city of Carthage with great anticipation.
Although Dido is in love with Aeneas, she feels great anguish about the vow to her dead husband and the prospect of sharing her throne with a foreign king... |
