Drummer Paul Richards began playing professionally at age 15 and has taught private lessons since 1973. Originally from Granville, Paul moved to New York City to study music and percussion at The Borough of Manhattan Community College and C.W Post College (Long Island University). He also studied drum set privately with Charles Persip and Michael Carvin as well as traditional African, Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian percussion with Har-You (Harlem Youth) Percussion Ensemble leader Roger “Montego Joe” Sanders. He has toured with various artists including Joan Osborne, John Popper, Curtis Stigers and The Popa Chubby Band in North America and Europe as well as Japan and Russia. He is currently playing in the Columbus area as well as teaching at Denison University and Martin Music.
