The unique sound of vocalist Debra James Tucker is a product of extensive training in jazz, classical and gospel music. The style flowing from the wild timbre of her big range is entirely her own thing.
Debra has appeared in the Theatre des Westens production of Porgy and Bess and done back-up vocals with Michael Bolton. She has appeared at Berlin’s acclaimed Quasimodo nightclub and done concerts with Columbus Symphony Orchestra.
Other credits include a concert appearance featuring Maya Angelou, a community performance led by Danny Glover, recordings with David Ornette Cherry, Vince Andrews and performances with countless jazz artists.

A graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, Debra is committed to using art and law to effect social change. She is writer and performer of the one woman show “Survival of the Boulevard Singer”, winner of the Ohio Arts Council Award for Individual Excellence in playwriting.
