Joining the Heisey Wind Ensemble in 1996, Mr. Blatti reestablished a connection with community bands that has been a consistent feature of his musical career as performer and director. He currently serves The Ohio State University as Associate Professor of Conducting and Associate Director of Bands. He is music director and conductor of the OSU Symphonic Band and received the School of Music's Distinguished Teaching Award in 1991. A graduate of Northwestern University, with two degrees in Music Education, he has done post-graduate work in Conducting at the University of Michigan and Michigan State University. Before coming to OSU, Mr. Blatti was an Associate Professor of Music at Albion College, where he was selected the outstanding Faculty Member of the Year (1986) and Counselor of the Year (1982).

An avid proponent of the community band movement, Mr. Blatti co-founded the Albion Community Band in 1980. He has served in various capacities in similar organizations in Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio. Recently inducted into the prestigious American Bandmasters Association, Mr. Blatti currently serves as State President of the College Band Directors Association and Secretary of the Big Ten Directors Association.
