New Music Festival

“Tutti” Denison University New Music Festival, deadline October 1, 2008

Denison University announces its third New Music Festival will be held from March 27-28, 2009, with featured composer Derek Bermel .  We are also proud to have  Brooklyn Rider string quartet and Brave New Works new music ensemble as guest artists and encourage submissions for string quartet and chamber ensemble (fl, cl, 2 vn, va, vc, pn, hp, female voice, conductor) respectively.  Composes may submit up to two works, for the ensembles above or for any combination of the following:  fl, ob, cl, bsn, sax, hn, tpt, tbn, pf, perc, SATB voices, vn, va, vc, db, SATB chamber choir, orchestra, Balinese gamelan, angklung.

Submissions of electro-acoustic music are also welcomed, including pieces for live electronics, acoustic soloist or ensemble and electronics, or playback alone.  ADAT and CD playback, a Macintosh G5 computer, and various keyboards and synthesizers are available.  There is no established limit on duration but feasibility of performance will be a consideration.  Composers may provide their own performers and should indicate such with their submission.  Attendance at the conference is required of all composers whose works will be performed.

Postmark deadline:  October. 1.  Submissions must include: score, with indication of duration and any technical requirements; CD recording; and a separate page with composer's name, address, telephone numbers, e-mail address, and list of pieces submitted with durations and specification of any technical requirements, especially for electro-acoustic works.  Please also indicate if you are willing to provide your own performers.  All composers whose compositions have been selected will be notified by Dec. 31.  For further information or any questions, please contact Ching-chu Hu at (740) 587-5761 or e-mail: hu@denison.edu.
