Philosophy Department Fall 2010 Calendar

Monday, Sept. 13 at 5:30 pm:  Philosophy Department Welcome Picnic, Lamson Lodge.  All Philosophy students are invited!  Come chat with your professors and classmates and enjoy Texas BBQ.  (And maybe some sand volleyball or soccer!)

Monday, Sept. 20 at 8:00 pm:   Hubert Dreyfus, well-known philosopher from the University of California, Berkeley, will speak on "Computation as Salvation:  Awaiting the Singularity" as a part of the Technology and Community speaker series. 

Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 4:30 pm:  Hubert Dreyfus, colloquium,"Merleau-Ponty vs. McDowell: The Pseudo-problem of Relating Mind and World."

Friday, Oct. 1 at 3:30 pm: The annual Big Red Weekend Philosophy Coffee (our biggest and most exciting Coffee of the year!) will be held in the Welsh Hills Room in Burton Morgan.  This year's topic, in line with the Denison First Year Theme, is "Does technology help or hinder community?"  Students, bring your parents and friends! Alumni, we hope to see you there as well.
