Physics

The Major

Students wishing to Major in Physics have the option to receive either the B.A. degree, requiring 34 semester hours of physics plus 16 semester hours of mathematics, or the B.S. degree, requiring 41 semester hours of physics plus 16 semester hours of mathematics. (Note: The mathematics requirement excludes computer science courses.) In addition, majors are required to pass a Comprehensive Examination offered annually by the department; it is normally taken at the start of the Senior year. Majors are also required to complete an independent research project.

For B.S. degree, Physics 330, plus one other to be chosen by students, are required.
