POLITICAL SCIENCE CHECK SHEET
All majors in political science are required to take nine courses, with at least one course in each of the three sub-fields: American politics, political theory, and comparative politics/international relations. All majors must take POSC 212: Analyzing Politics, and a senior seminar. Neither POSC 212 nor the seminar may count toward satisfying a sub-field requirement. In addition, no more three 200-level courses (excluding POSC 212) may count toward the major.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING DEPARTMENTAL REGULATIONS
1. Special approval must be obtained for the transfer of political science course credit from other institutions.
2. A maximum of four courses may be transferred from other institutions, but no more than two courses from a one semester off campus program or three courses from a one year off campus program may be transferred. In some instances four courses may be transferred from a one year abroad program.
3. The Washington Semester program counts as one American Politics course toward the major unless an American University political science class is substituted for the research component of the program.
4. The Department has special requirements for graduation with Honors. Please check with your advisor or the Department Chair for details.
5. Senior Research, 451-452, or Honors, 461-462, may be used to satisfy a requirement, but only for a maximum of four credits. Directed Studies, 361-362, or Independent Studies, 363-364, do not count towards fulfilling requirements for a major.
REQUIREMENTS FOR A MINOR IN POLITICAL SCIENCE
Students minoring in Political Science are required to take six courses, with at least on course in each of the three subfields: American politics, political theory, and comparative politics/international relations.
No more than two 200-level classes will count toward the minor.
Political Science 212 cannot fulfill a subfield requirement.
