Assistant Professor Katy Crossley-Frolick joined the faculty at Denison in 2007. She earned her bachelor's degree at North Central College and both a master's and doctorate at Loyola University, Chicago. Her research interests focus on democratic transitions, post-conflict peacebuilding processes, and German foreign and security policy. Crossley-Frolick also serves as the faculty sponsor for the American Model UN.

Courses
Comparing Democratic States and Societies (POSC 221)
Europe and War (POSC 370)
European Union (POSC 331)
Human Rights in Global Perspective (POSC 345)
Introduction to International Politics (POS 242)
The United Nations and World Problems (POSC 344)
The Iraq War (POSC 402)
Transitions to Democracy (POSC 330)

I have also supervised several senior and summer research projects. Including:

"The Czech Presidency of the European Union and the Lisbon Treaty: Critical Junctures and the Challenge of Leadership." Michelle Tverdosi ’10 and "Recognition as Intervention in Civil conflict: The Case Studies of Kosovo and East Timor," Leslie Marshall ’10

Every fall I supervise Denison University’s Model United Nations program. Student participation at the American Model United Nations (AMUN) conference is organically related to POSC 344, the United Nations and World Problems. The conference gives students the opportunity to apply what they learn in the course in a simulated conference over several days. Over the past few years Denison students have represented Lithuania, Zimbabwe, Malaysia, Serbia and Saudi Arabia at AMUN. Over 1500 university students from the U.S and abroad attended the conference, representing approximately 100 UN Member States.

In fall 2009, five Denison students received awards for their outstanding performance representing Saudi Arabia. Brandon Haas received a Best Advocate award for his presentation of Saudi Arabia's case before the International Court of Justice; Rachel Atkins and Heather Fishel won Best Delegate awards in the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs; Evan Johnson and Erin Saul received Best Delegate awards in the Economic and Social Council. These awards represent an all time best for Denison University.

In fall 2010 Denison will represent Pakistan at the 21st Annual American Model Nations conference simulation.
