Dr. Tina Pierce is the Consortium for Faculty Diversity at Liberal Arts Colleges Post-Doctorate Fellow of Political Science and Black Studies. She earned her Ph.D and M.a. in Political Science from The Ohio State University in 2009 and 2004, respectively. Additionally, Dr. Pierce received a B.A. with Distinction in Social and Behavioral Sciences and a B.A. with Distinction in Humanities from The Ohio State University in 2001.
Professor Pierce specializes in American Politics, race and ethnicity, state and local politics. Her dissertation entitled: Political Leadership and Policy Preferences: A Case Study of the Columbus City School District and its Board of Education, evaluates civic engagement and school board responsiveness to assess local influence in school governance.
Dr. Pierce's current research agenda focuses on the political dynamics of urban governance and civic engagement. Professor Pierce recently received a Curricular Support Grant through the Burton Morgan Program for Liberal Arts Entrepreneurship Education to explore urban redevelopment and entrepreneurship in the context of Columbus, Ohio.
