You may wonder what the most important part of college is. Is it the classes? Is it living in the right spot? Is it bonding with the right professors? No. Absolutely not. If you don't have a spot on A-Quad where you can comfortably go to the bathroom throughout the day, you don't have anything. You will spend hours upon hours there, studying and frolicking. You need to have a bathroom that is only yours. May I suggest the 3rd floor of Higley? I am vacating that spot now that I'm graduating, and I'd like to leave it in good hands.
Also, don't cheat on exams.

I don't know if you're allowed to climb trees or not. But do it. There's a really good one in front of Sigma Chi. People will think you're weird, and you will think they're weird.

To be completely honest, part of me was terrified before coming to Denison. I heard so many horror stories about bad food, impossible amounts of course work, tiny rooms and stereotypcial "college people". Maybe I'm just really easy to please, because I've lived comfortably in the dorms, been for the most part been really happy with the food (I am a huge advocate of meal exchange) and made some incredible friends while learning about topics that genuinely interest me. I look forward to meeting the next incoming class of this wonderful school!

One of the greatest opportunities Denison offers is the chance to study abroad for a year, semester or summer. I have been in Copenhagen, Denmark for the spring semester, studying migration and identity. Although I am having a fantastic time abroad, I miss Denison very much and am excited to get back. There is no doubt that studying abroad has enriched my Denison experience. Welcome class of 2013!

One thing I learned in my first year here at Denison is to not be afraid to explore every inch of this campus. If you walk the same paths and do the same things every day here things can get monotonous, so if you ever get the chance to take part in something that intrigues you, don't be afraid of taking a little time out of your schedule to explore!

Things it took me two years too long to figure out: the dining hall's vegan desserts are delicious, common "hour" is actually two hours long, Whit's is spelled with only one "t:, the Outing Club rents out equipment like tents and sleeping bags, library books can be renewed online, and most of the academic departments keep candy in their lounge areas. Yes I realize that half of these are about desserts. Mmm...

Liberal arts. After spending a full five semesters at Denison, I never truly considered the meaning behind the words until I registered for intro to sculpture - taught completely in Spanish. I am a Biology and Spanish double major, and don't consider myself particularly artistic. In fact, each time I pick up a pencil to draw something I feel slightly uncomfortable. However, after taking the class and stepping outside of my comfort zone, I realized that I have at least some artistic ability and creativity! Figure out your major. Decide what you like to study. But don't limit yourself from taking a class that you may initially consider obscure. Some of my favorite memories have been the product of trying something new at Denison. Who knows? You just might end up sculpting a giant pelican out of wire.

Alright, so two truths and a lie:
1) Initially there were plans for an archery range on the roof of Slayter, but misfired arrows falling on students below was too much of a threat, so instead they built a bowling alley on the third floor of Slayter.
2) Important government documents were stored in Swasey Chapel during WWII just in case the United States might be invaded.
3) Hundreds of bouncy balls were tossed into the library's atrium during finals week last semester, much to the surprise of all the students.
