Advanced Studies in England (ASE)
Don Nunes Memorial Scholarship
  • Full semester students from under-represented populations
  • According to financial need
  • 1000 pounds
  • Applications for scholarship accompanied by supporting statements from home institution

  • Les Arnold Memorial Scholarship
  • Awarded annually to a full year student majoring in English
  • Based on need and academic achievement
  • Requests for scholarship accompanied by supporting statements from home institution

  • Paul Lapworth Scholarship
  • Awareded each semester to a student on basis of need and a “keen interest in Shakespeare”
  • Application for scholarship accompanied by supporting statements from home institution

  • ASE General Scholarships
  • Several offered each semester
  • Awarded solely on the basis of financial need
  • Personal letter with application detailing reasons for request

  • ASE Assistantships
  • Rewarded to non-scholarship students
  • Receive weekly stipend in return for assistance in the smooth running of the Programme both in Nelson House and when away on residentials

    Arcadia University's Center for Education Abroad (CEA)
  • Need-based scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,000 for full-year, semester or term
  • Awarded based upon a combination of financial need, academic merit, and program choice
  • You may obtain a scholarship application in the Denison Office of Off-Campus Study, Fellows 413
  • Deadlines are between February 1 and April 20 for fall and full year programs and between September 1 and October 15 for spring programs.  Deadlines for Summer programs fall between January 1 and March 31.  Apply early! Arcadia will inform recipients approximately four weeks after Arcadia receives the application.

    Council on International Education Exchange (CIEE)

    Deadlines: April 1 for summer, fall and academic year; November 1 for spring programs

    John E. Bowman Travel Grants
  • Travel to non-traditional locations that include Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America

  • Robert B. Bailey III Scholarship
  • $500 awarded to a US citizens belonging to an underrepresented group
  • Based upon scholarship essays and recommendations

  • CIEE International Study Programs (CIEE-ISP) Scholarship
  • Based on academic and financial need
  • $500-$1000

  • US Department of Education Fulbrigh-Hays Project Abroad Scholarship for Programs in China
  • Eligibility requirements: students planning to pursue advanced study or a career related to China in the areas of academia or public affairs; have completed 2 years of college-level Mandarin Chinese language training; demonstrate high merit, financial need and pursuit of post-graduate work relating to Chinese Studies
  • For Chinese language programs offered by the CIEE Study Centers at Peking University (Beijing), East China Normal University (Shanghai), Nanjing University, and National Chengchi University (Taipei)
  • Awards vary in amount.  Past scholarships have ranged from $1000-$8000 awarded for one term


  • Denmark's International Study Program (DIS)
  • All awarded on the basis of financial need
  • Scholarship applications can be downloaded from the website
  • Due to the costs involved in the HIV/AIDS in Western Europe program, DIS is unable to award scholarships for this program.

  • The DIS Scholarship
  • $500-1,000 per semester
  • Small number of $2,000 grants are allocated per semester

  • The DIS Work Scholarship
  • $300 per semester

  • The Knud Helm-Erichsen Scholarship, or The Mary Dau Scholarship
  • $500 – $2000


  • Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs (HECUA)
    HECUA Scholarship
  • Three $500 awards made each term to students who have worked for social change
  • Merit-based
  • Essay showing match between your goals and the HECUA program
  • Deadlines for scholarship applications are December 1 for Spring, June 1 for Fall, and April 15 for Summer.

  • Scholarship for Social Justice (New)
  • Two $1,500 scholarships will be awarded first generation college students, students from low-income families, and/or students of color.
  • Deadline is the same date as the application for the semester program to which the student is seeking admittance (April 15 for Fall programs, December 1 for Spring programs.)

  • The Institute for the Int'l Education of Students (IES)
    IES commits more $2 million each year to scholarship and financial aid programs. IES offers a number of need- and merit-based scholarship opportunities. In addition, IES also offers Diversity Scholarships, Legacy Scholarships, and Disability Grants. Applicants may apply for multiple scholarships, but only one scholarship will be awarded per student and a separate application is required for each scholarship.

    Japan Studies Program
    Refer to their website for information on various outside scholarships and internship/job programs that can assist to finance this program.


    School for Field Studies (SFS)
  • SFS General Scholarships up to $5,000 for the semester, $2,000 for summer programs.
  • Andreas Family Fund Scholarships up to $5,000
  • Deadline for Andreas Family Fund Scholarships: October 15 for Spring, March 15 for Fall
  • Heather Jo Leibowitz Memorial Scholarship for Kenya - $1,000
  • Fountain Scholarship: Demonstrate financial need, have spent the substantial part of their childhood and teenage years growing up in an urban/city environment (whether in the U.S. or internationally), demonstrate a commitment and concern for environmental issues
  • McKee Scholarship
  • SFS Employee Scholarship: Demonstrate concern and a commitment for environmental issues
