Astronomy
Astronomy is the study of the universe: what's out there, how it has come to be, and what the future may hold. Questions in astronomy include the origin of the universe; how stars are born, live, and die; blackholes and galaxies; and the expansion of space. Astronomy is closely related to physics, and understanding the underlying physical processes in the universe is a key goal for both fields. At Denison, our students work with professors who are actively engaged in research on such topics as jets from active galaxies and star formation using techniques including radioastronomy and computational modeling. We also enjoy looking at the night skies with the telescopes at the Swasey Observatory and indoors at our planetarium!
