Physics
Physics is the study of the universe and how it works. Questions in physics range from the very big (The Big Bang) to the very small (Quantum Mechanics), and from the very fast (relativity) to the very slow (laser cooling). As physicists, we attempt to infer underlying physical principles from the world around us. At Denison, our students work with professors who are actively engaged in research on such topics as laser spectroscopy of atoms, molecules, and ions; computer modeling of star formation; the theory of photonic crystals; radioastronomy of active galaxies; and the biomechanics of the human body. Mostly, though, physics is fun!
