Student Groups
Sigma Xi
Sigma Xi is an international, multidisciplinary research society whose programs and activities promote the health of the scientific enterprise and honor scientific achievement. The Denison chapter of Sigma Xi recognizes student excellence in scientific research and hosts a series of Science Cafes to encourage conversations about topics of scientific interest.
Denison Biological Society (DUBS)
DUBS is a student-run organization that celebrates and promotes interest in Biology on the Denison campus. DUBS is open to all members of the Denison community. Most members are affiliated with the Department of Biology.
Denison Chemical Society (DCS)
DCS is a student affiliate of The American Chemical Society. The goals of the DCS are to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas in chemistry, educate others on the importance and implications of chemistry, and promote friendships between faculty members and students.
Stibitz Computing Society
The Stibitz Computing Society is named for Denison alumnus George Stibitz, one of the inventors of digital computing and a member of the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
Upsilon Pi Epsilon
Upsilon Pi Epsilon is the international honor society in Computer Science. The main goals of UPE are to recognize outstanding talent and promote high scholarship in computer science. Denison's chapter (Delta of Ohio) of UPE was chartered in September, 2000.
C. L. Herrick Geological Society
The C. L. Herrick Geological Society is a student run organization dedicated to exposing students to professional opportunities in the earth sciences. Throughout the semester the society hosts and encourages students to attend speaker events, regional and local meetings, and local student and department run field trips. The Herrick Society also hosts the annual Department of Geosciences banquet (held each spring), and occasional picnics.
Pi Mu Epsilon
Pi Mu Epsilon is the National Mathematics Honor Society. The purpose of the Society is to promote scholarly activity in mathematics among the students in academic institutions.
Neuroscience Education & Research at Denison (NERD)
NERD is a club for those interested in Neuroscience Education and Research at Denison. NERD members range from the newest undergraduate students to full professors. Prior knowledge about neuroscience is NOT required.
Nu Rho Psi
Nu Rho Psi is the National Honor Society in Neuroscience. The purpose of Nu Rho Psi is to encourage professional interest and excellence in scholarship, particularly in neuroscience; award recognition to students who have achieved such excellence in scholarship; advance the discipline of neuroscience; encourage intellectual and social interaction between students, faculty, and professionals in neuroscience and related fields; promote career development in neuroscience and related fields; increase public awareness of neuroscience and its benefits for the individual and society; and encourage service to the community.
Psi Chi
Psi Chi is the National Honor Society in Psychology. The purpose of Psi Chi is to "encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology."
Society of Physics Students (SPS)
The Society of Physics Students at Denison University, open to any person interested in physics, promotes the professional development of students, and the professional contributions that students make to the professional community and to society.
