The Denison Writing Center

Academic Writing Strategy: An outline can make a longer paper seem less intimidating because first, your ideas are organized, and second, an outline splits the paper up into different segments, almost as if you had several small papers to do.

We believe that writing is not a process that occurs in isolation or by a sole individual. Instead, writing is a collective effort that students, instructors, and Writing Consultants engage in together. We work toward this goal with student writers and faculty.

Making Appointments

Appointments in the Writing Center last 30 minutes. If you have a longer paper (over 5 pages), we encourage you to schedule two consecutive appointments. To schedule an appointment, click on the link below and select a date and time.

Use the link below to schedule an appointment. Contact Dr. Susan Kanter, Assistant Director of the Writing Center, for assistance in scheduling appointments.

Note: You will be prompted for your myDENISON credentials. If our online scheduler does not allow you to make an appointment at a particular time, either our consultants are fully scheduled or the Writing Center is closed at that time.

Schedule an appointment now!

If your paper is 6 pages or longer, we recommend scheduling two appointments. Schedule your first session on the hour and the second on the half hour if possible. This will allow you to work with the same consultant throughout your session.

For assistance with making appointments, contact Susan Kanter at kanters@denison.edu.

For questions regarding the Writing Center, please contact Brenda Boyle at boyleb@denison.edu.
