Dunbar Scholarship

Jonathan Everett Dunbar Scholarship

The Dunbar Scholarship in the Humanities is a full-tuition scholarship awarded to one outstanding humanities student in each class. Candidates should present an exemplary high school record that demonstrates a sustained interest in one of the humanities, evidence of advanced course work, and potential for significant contributions to Denison's Humanities Departments and/or Programs. It is renewable each year if the stipulated grade point average is maintained.

Please note! Unlike our other scholarships, students interested in being considered for the Dunbar must apply for the scholarship directly (see below). The same is true for Denison's Wells Science Scholarship. Students are not allowed to apply for both, as the intention is to award the Dunbar to a student who intends to major in a Humanities discipline.

Majors in the Division of Humanities at Denison University include the following:

  • Communications
  • English
  • French
  • Latin
  • French Area Studies
  • German
  • History
  • Latin American Studies
  • Philosophy
  • Religion
  • Spanish
  • Individually Designed Major
