George Blechta '36 of Sarasota Florida celebrated his 95th birthday on 7/22/08. He was joined by 30 of his family members including his 3 children, his 2 step daughters, 11 grand children and 2 great grand children. Family members traveled from Hawaii, California, Paris, Arizona and NYC to join in the week long event. His birthday evening banquet ended with a bagpipe serenade for George and his guests from his step Grandson who is attending University in Wales. George is in outstanding health both mentally and physically and often talks of the day he ran against Jessie Owens on the track team at Denison.
