Emily Holcombe '03 and Lindsey Ritzert '03 ran the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 12, 2008. They ran as part of Team LUNGevity, and raised over $2,000 for Lungevity Foundation - the leading private provider of research funding for lung cancer. It was the second marathon for both.

Laura Lee Deters Gastis '91 and Charlotte Remick Wetzel '91, competed on partner teams in the 2008 Colorado Relay, a 24-hour running relay from Georgetown, CO to Carbondale, CO on September 12/13. Despite the snow & rain, they loved the race!

U.S. Senator Dick Lugar '54 had energy security meetings in Berlin, Germany on September 2. Christen Machak '04 represented the U.S. Embassy in Berlin at these meetings and had previously participated in the Lugar program and interned in his Senate office. Senator Lugar and Christen are pictured in front of the Brandenburg Gate, which is located next to the U.S. Embassy.
