Senior pitcher James Clear and junior second baseman Justin Held were named to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first team as selected by The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). As first-team selections both individuals will move on to the Academic All-America ballot.

Baseball: Ohio Wesleyan captures NCAC baseball crown

Ohio Wesleyan senior Joey McDaniel scattered 10 hits over eight innings and allowed only two Denison runs to cross the plate as he led his Bishops to a 7-3 victory over the Big Red in the deciding game of the 2008 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship Series.

Baseball: Wyborny and the Big Red force third game

JD Wyborny turned a masterful complete game victory in game two of the North Coast Athletic Conference championship series, forcing a decisive game three at 6 p.m. from Big Red Field in Granville. Ohio Wesleyan took the opener, 5-2 and Denison bounced back in the second game for a 4-2 victory.

NCAC's baseball opener washed out, games rescheduled for Friday

Thursday's opening game of the 2008 NCAC Baseball Championship has been postponed due to rain. Play will resume on Friday morning with game one scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Game two will follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. A potential game three will start two hours after game two.

NCAC 2008 Baseball Championship

Denison suffered a best two-of-three series loss to Ohio Wesleyan University in the 2008 NCAC Baseball Championship Series from Granville.  Denison captured game two 4-2 but dropped a 7-3 decision in game three.  The Big Red closed out the year with a 27-18 record.

2008 NCAC Baseball Semifinals

Denison swept Kenyon in the semifinals of the North Coast Athletic Conference tournament and will face either Wooster or Ohio Wesleyan in the NCAC Championship series on May 8-9 at Big Red Field in Granville.
