Men's Track & Field: Barnes repeats at ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American
Denison University senior Michael Barnes has been named to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America first-team for men's track and field as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). This is Barnes' second consecutive Academic All-America award.

Dennis Collins, executive director of the NCAC passed away on Sunday, June 14, in Cleveland, after a suffering from an apparent heart attack.

Denison University senior Kristen Hohl was named the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America of the Year for the women's At-Large program as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Barnes and Navarre named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District squads
Denison's Michael Barnes and Katie Navarre were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first-team's for men's and women's track and field as selected by The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). As first-team all-district selections, Barnes and Navarre will move on to the national ballott for a chance to become Academic All-Americans.

Softball: Three named to All-Region team
Senior outfielder Mary Beth Krolikowski, junior catcher Brie Berkopec and first-year second baseman Lauren Lynn were all named to the 2009 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Central Region second-team after helping lead Denison the North Coast Athletic Conference regular season championship.

Men's Lacrosse: Denison lands 13 on All-NCAC squads; Maude named Player of the Year
After advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the 11th time in school history and locking up their 11th North Coast Athletic Conference Championship, Denison's Dan Maude was named the 2009 NCAC Player of the Year and Mike Caravana received his fourth NCAC Coach of the Year honor as 13 members of the Big Red squad earned All-NCAC recognition.

Women's Lacrosse: Three named IWLCA All-West Region
Senior Katie Kubasta earned first-team Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-West Region status while classmates Bethany Keller and Amanda Wilson were named to the IWLCA All-West Region second team. Kubasta and Keller are both making their second-consecutive appearances on the All-Region squad.

Baseball: Held named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Third Team
Senior center fielder Justin Held was named to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America third team as selected by The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). This marks Held's first appearances on the Academic All-American squad after earning first-team All-District status the past two years.

Women's Tennis: Damico named ITA Senior Player of the Year
Denison University's Meghan Damico was named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Senior Women's Tennis Player of the Year after leading her Big Red team back to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the third consecutive season.

Women's Tennis: Cobb and Drane fall in NCAA Semifinals
Kristin Cobb and Marta Drane's push for a NCAA doubles national championship came to an end in Sunday's semifinals versus the No. 1 seeded duo from Pomona-Pitzer. Drane and Cobb fell to Siobhan Finicane and Olivia Muesse, 6-1, 6-3.

Women's Tennis: Drane and Cobb win again; NCAA semifinal match set for Sunday
Denison's dynamic duo of Marta Drane and Kristin Cobb are still alive in the NCAA Women's Tennis Doubles Championship in Lawrenceville, Ga. after earning a three-set victory in Saturday's quarterfinal round to advance to the national semifinals on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Women's Outdoor Track & Field: Navarre takes 5th in 5K at NCAA Championships
After a program best sixth-place mark in the 10K on Thursday evening, Denison sophomore Katie Navarre completed her performance at the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship by finishing fifth out of 17 athletes in the 5,000 meter run on Saturday afternoon at Don Drumm Stadium in Marietta, Ohio.
 

Denison wins 11th All-Sports Title

For the 10th time in 12 years and the 11th time overall, Denison University has been named the All-Sports Champion of the NCAC. 

Denison capped off the 2008-09 season with an outstanding spring which saw the Big Red capture three conference titles.

Denison mourns the loss of NCAC Executive Director, Dennis Collins

Dennis Collins, executive director of the NCAC, passed away on Sunday, June 14, after a suffering a heart attack.

Collins became the first, and only, executive director of the NCAC when the league began its first year of competition in 1984. For 25 years, he led one of the most successful athletic conferences in all of the NCAA's three divisions.

The Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame has announced that Louis A. Mitchell, a Denison University Life Trustee, and member of the Class of 1957, will be inducted into the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame during its fourth annual banquet and ceremony on May 30 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
