Location: GRANVILLE

Senior right-hander JD Wyborny (Walnut Creek, Calif./Monte Vista) led a list of three Denison players to earn All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors for their play in the 2008 season.

Wyborny earned his second, second-team honor of his career after leading the Denison pitching staff with a 2.53 ERA.  He was 6-3 with 59 strikeouts in 78.1 innings pitched.  Wyborny is third all-time in strikeouts, innings pitched and fourth in career wins.

Honorable mention honors went to senior pitcher James Clear (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) and sophomore Park Smith (Warren, N.J./The Pingry School).  Clear teamed with Wyborny to form one of the top one-two punches in the NCAC in 2008.  He was 6-3 and posted a 3.33 ERA in 78.1 innings pitched. Clear leaves Denison ranked fourth in innings pitched (200.1), fifth in wins (15), ERA (3.99) and eighth in strikeouts (138).

This is Smith's second honorable mention award of his short career.  He led Denison in hitting with a .414 average while driving in a team-best 38 runs.  He also posted a 4-4 record in 45.0 innings pitched.  Smith fired a no-hitter on March 2 and was a two-time NCAC Player of the Week this season.

Denison went 27-18 and captured their fourth NCAC West Division Championship after posting a 12-4 record in league play.
