Baseball: Park Smith named NCAC Hitter of the Week for second time

Denison sophomore Park Smith (Warren, N.J./The Pingry School) was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the second time in 2008 after his monster week against Otterbein, Heidelberg and Wooster.
In four games, Smith hit .813 (13-for-16) with three doubles and three runs scored. He also drove in eight of the team's 15 runs on the week. Smith lifted his batting average 87 points, rising from .338 to a team-best .425. He also leads the squad in doubles (9), RBIs (21), slugging percentage (.563) and on-base percentage (.474).
Smith and the Big Red will host Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday (April 16) in a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. Denison will proceed to close out NCAC West Division play this weekend when they open a four-game series on April 10-20 with Earlham College. Denison leads the NCAC West Division with an 8-4 record.
