Baseball: Denison opens conference play with sweep of Wittenberg
Aidan Lucas went 7-for-9 with 7 RBIs on Friday against Wittenberg.

The Big Red pounded out 25 hits and outscored host Wittenberg 16-8 en route to a doubleheader sweep on Friday in Springfield.
Denison took game one by a score of 5-4 and came back in the second game with an 11-4 victory. In the opener senior pitcher James Clear went six innings and allowed four runs off seven hits to capture the win. DU entered the seventh with a 5-2 lead but the Tigers plated two runs in the final frame forcing Clear out of the game. Freshman Nick Smith entered and recorded the final three outs for his first career save.
Aidan Lucas, Kevin Teauge and Danny Pritz combined to go 10-for-10 at the plate led by Lucas' 4-for-4 day.
In the second game it was Lucas who continued to sizzle at the plate. He proceeded to go 3-for-5 with six RBIs helping DU to the seven-run victory.
Senior JD Wyborny improved to 4-0 by pitching four innings and allowing two earned runs while striking out three. Freddy Marino worked the final three innings and allowed three hits.
Justin Held was 3-for-4 with four runs scored and sophomore Park Smith hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning.
DU will close out their four-game series with Wittenberg on Monday (March 24) in Springfield.
