Denison men's basketball junior guard Chris Luther (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) was named North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week after leading the Big Red to a 2-0 conference record last week.
Luther dropped 17 points in Denison's 85-57 victory over Earlham last Wednesday and followed that up with a 20-point performance in a 67-64 victory at Allegheny, which marked the Big Red's first win in Meadville since the 2005-06 season. The senior averaged 18.5 ppg on 54 percent (10-for-22) from the field. The Dayton, Ohio native also connected on 6-of-15 (.400) from long range.
Luther had led the team in scoring 11 times this season and averages 14.7 ppg, ranking him eighth in the NCAC. The two league wins extended DU's winning streak to three games which is the best since the 2006-07 season.
Denison is 6-13 on the year and in a four-way tie for sixth in the conference with a 3-7 mark. The Big Red return to action on Wednesday when they host NCAC rival Kenyon College. Tip-off at Livingston Gymnasium is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
